Day 4

Today’s workshops were all about mapping. Mapping your day that you were having so far, and then mapping how you would like the future to unfold for you. Our maps were colorful, abstract and specific, and gave us all things to think about. How do we remember our days? What do we dwell on? Can we choose what to remember?

The weekend brought a lot of interesting visitors – kids in strollers, the homeless, spiritual seekers, old friends. The pace on the weekend is slower, and people are stopping to really sit and chat. One visitor, after a few pastries and a cup of peppermint tea, confessed that we were the first people he’d talked to in days.

I don’t know that it occurred to me until yesterday that we could genuinely affect people in this way: to be there with an open door in a time of need.
